Hello - I currently have an Airmar B265LH transducer in my boat. The high frequency has burnt out. Given the cost of the two setups in the title is +/-$300 before installed, would you rather have the pocket mount combo transducer, or two separate transducers. I have plenty of flat space on my keel and currently can read bottom perfectly fine at 35+ knots. If I went with the 2 thru hull combos they would be in line on the keel. Assuming removing the current 256LH Pocket to re fiberglass in the larger pocket for the PM488 is about the same work as just adding another pocket for the B54.

Having not known that a transducer has a 7-10 year shelf life, I wonder is it better to have one, or redundancy with the two different transducers?

The combination transducers are basically the multibeam elements for the DFF3D Multibeam SONAR and other elements for the down sounding sounder mounted in the same housing.
