Will it overwrite or should we stop PBG recording if one exists already for the area.

Yes PBG is compensated by the tide tables.

Is there a way to test if your pbg on tzt3 is working or can this only be done by water test. Thanks

There is no out of water test beside sweeping the transducer elements with an Airmar TDT1000 tester. If you have one and wish to test, the procedure is posted under the support area of the transducer.
