False ARPA Targets

My DRS25A-NXT often shows an ARPA target that is right next to my boat or even two of them when there are no boats close by. My guess is that it is somehow fooled by the bow wave or stern wake and tracking it as a target. Especially when it is calm, I also see the V shaped return from the wake, which is very normal and to be expected with a radar that has a quite small blanked close in area from main bang.

The false targets are somewhat annoying and disconcerting. Is there some adjustment to the settings I could make to eliminate this issue?

False targets are normally caused by radar reflections off something on your boat. Aka Ghost targets. You want to reduce or eliminate anything that is in the radar beam as much as possible or use Sector Blanking to stop transmitting into items in the beam that might send back strong RF energy.
