Furuno FM4800 VHF radio to NMEA2000 backbone

Does the Furuno FM4800 VHF radio need wiring to the IF-NMEAFI to hook in the NMEA2000 network?

The IF-NMEAFI is an analog interface typically used for the wind sensor or as a tank sensor converter. It wouldn't be used with a radio at all.
The FM4800 offers 2000 or 0183 so you shouldn't need any interface of any type.
