I’m currently learning my way around the gp 1971f so I’m also using navionics on an iPad. One feature it has is depth shading which I find handy for our bay which is full of mud and sand bars. Basically I can just head anywhere that’s white and know there’s deep water. Various shades of blue then give me an idea of areas to be cautious around. The older Furuno unit used to do this but I can’t find anywhere on the new one to get it to do the same. Am I missing something?

Gp1971F has a depth shading feature "shading mode" under MENU - MAPS - DISPLAY MODE - DEPTH SETTINGS. Here is a direct link to the full user's manual in case you need it.
